Direct current engines

The direct current engine is a reversible electric equipment which rotates, making the conversion of the electric energy absorbed from the generator. It consists of two main elements: stator and rotor. It is suitable for electric drives of small and medium powers, or for drives that do not require a variable magnetic field of excitation

It consists of two main elements: stator and rotor. It is suitable for electric drives of small and medium powers, or for drives that do not require a variable magnetic field of excitation.


Types of direct current engines:

  • Engine with independent excitation - where the statoric and rotoring windings are connected to two separate power sources
  • Engine with parallel excitation - where the statoric and rotoring winding are connected in parallel to the same voltage source
  • Engine with serial excitation - where the statoric and rotoric winding are connected in serie
  • Engine with mixed excitation - where the statoric winding is divided into two windings, one connected in parallel and thye other one connected in serie
